BA in Political Science and International Relations
Three for regular and four for extension
Students who have completed their preparatory program in the field of the social sciences and obtained the necessary pass marks in the Ethiopian higher education entrance examination (EHEE); and Students who have completed their secondary education in foreign countries on the basis of equivalent academic achievements that shall be determined by the ministry; and Candidates who hold diplomas in related fields from recognized higher learning institutions will be eligible
Students must take a total of 180 ECTS and complete all of their semester courses successfully with a minimum CGPA and MGPA of 2.00 with no “F” grade will be eligible for graduation. A student who has scored an “F” grade in any of the courses will not graduate without removing the “F” grade as per the rules & regulations of the University.
The political science program focuses on the study of government theories, government processes and institutions, and political dynamics that contribute to the establishment, evolution, and functioning of governments worldwide. Introduction to US politics, comparative politics, political theory, and international relations are required of all political science majors. Majors are then given the option of selecting from a choice of advanced courses, allowing students to tailor a plan of study that either continues to span multiple of these fields or gives specialization in one of these fields. InternationalRelations’ major focus areas include communication & public relations, conflict resolution, energy & environmental sustainability, human rights and international law, legal agencies, development and relief, education, research (Academia & Think Tanks), science, technology, securiy , intelligen,ce and trade policy. focuses on International relations is a diverse field that allows you to investigate the complexities of relationships between different countries and apply this understanding to the world of work. International Relations majors can find careers in government, politics, journalism, business, nonprofit, education and international organizations.
