Program Details

Law is a discipline that deals with understanding and interpreting the system of rules, statutes, decrees, and regulations that apply at the national or international level. Law or Legal Education is a combination of multiple theoretical subjects and case studies, which help students to develop their skills through practical assignments.

Some of the most popular subfields of Law include International Law, European Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Public Law, Business Law, etc.

People who attend law schools are often conscientious, and integrity is an essential quality for them. They see corruption as a major roadblock in the development of better societies and aim to improve the world by ensuring that impartial justice is served. Some of the modules included in a Law degree are law of contract, law of tort, property law, criminal law, governing the major organs of the state, constitutional law, human right law, etc. These courses are followed by legal training, where future lawyers have the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned.

While studying Law, you will also develop and enhance your public-speaking skills and the ability to form arguments and support them with relevant facts. You can use principles from rhetorical discourse to significantly improve this ability.

What does graduates of Law do?

Lawyers Also called: Attorney, Attorney at Law, Attorney General, Lawyer What they do:

  1. Represent clients in criminal and civil litigation and other legal proceedings, draw up legal documents, or manage or advise clients on legal transactions.
  2. May specialize in a single area or may practice broadly in many areas of law. On the job, you would: Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
  3. Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  4. Select jurors, argue motions, meet with judges, and question witnesses during the course of a trial. Judicial Law Clerks Also called: Judicial Assistant, Judicial Clerk, Judicial Law Clerk, Law Clerk What they do: Assist judges in court or by conducting research or preparing legal documents. On the job, you would: Prepare briefs, legal memoranda, or statements of issues involved in cases, including appropriate suggestions or recommendations.
  5. Research laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, or other information related to cases before the court.
  6. Draft or proofread judicial opinions, decisions, or citations.
  7. Administrative Law Judges, Adjudicators, & Hearing Officers Also called: Administrative Hearings Officer, Administrative Judge, Administrative Law Judge, Hearings Officer What they do: Conduct hearings to recommend or make decisions on claims concerning government programs or other government-related matters.
  8. Determine liability, sanctions, or penalties, or recommend the acceptance or rejection of claims or settlements.
  9. On the job, you would: Determine existence and amount of liability according to current laws, administrative and judicial precedents, and available evidence. Monitor and direct the activities of trials and hearings to ensure that they are conducted fairly and that courts administer justice while safeguarding the legal rights of all involved parties. Prepare written opinions and decisions.
