Italian Government Scholarships 2024/2025 for International Students andItalians Residing AbroadThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) of Italy is offeringscholarships for international students and Italians residing abroad (IRE) for the academic year2024/2025.
These scholarships aim to promote cultural, scientific, and technologicalcooperation, project Italy’s economic system globally, and spread knowledge of the Italianlanguage and culture.
Scholarship Types:
1. Master’s Degree Programs (Second Cycle)
○ Duration: 9 months
○ Eligibility: Applicants must have completed a first-level degree (equivalent to anItalian bachelor’s degree).
2. Advanced Artistic, Musical, and Choreutic Courses (AFAM)
○ Duration: 9 months
○ Eligibility: Applicants must meet the entry requirements of the chosen institution.
3. PhD Programs
○ Duration: 9 months
○ Eligibility: Applicants must possess the required qualifications and an admissionletter from the Italian university.
4. Co-Tutored Research Projects
○ Duration: 9 months
○ Eligibility: Open for research activities at recognized public research institutions,state universities, and other recognized entities.
5. Advanced Courses in Italian Language and Culture
○ Duration: 3 months
○ Eligibility: Applicants must have at least an A2 level proficiency in Italian.
Benefits:
● Monthly Allowance:
○ Master’s and AFAM: €900/month
○ PhD and Co-Tutored Research: €1,200/month
○ Advanced Italian Courses: €900/month
● Medical Insurance: Provided for the duration of the scholarship.
● Tuition Fee Waivers: Some universities may offer tuition fee exemptions. Regionaltaxes are still applicable.
● Additional Benefits: Travel expenses, if specified, and support for visa procedures.
Eligibility Criteria:
● Academic Requirements: Relevant qualifications as per the scholarship type.
● Age Limits:
○ Master’s, AFAM, and Advanced Italian Courses: Up to 28 years old.
○ PhD: Up to 30 years old.
○ Co-Tutored Research: Up to 40 years old.
● Language Proficiency:
○ For Italian-taught courses: B2 level in Italian.
○ For English-taught courses: B2 level in English.
● Other Requirements: Applicants should not have previously received a MAECIscholarship or another Italian government scholarship.
